The sweetest notes among the human heart-strings are dull with rust;
The sweetest chords, adjusted by the angels, are clogged with dust;
We pipe and pipe again our dreary music upon the self-same strains,
While sounds of crime, and fear, and desolation, come back in sad refrains.
On through the world we go, an army marching with listening ears,
Each longing, sighing, for the heavenly music he never hears;
Each longing, sighing, for a word of comfort, a word of tender praise,
A word of love, to cheer the endless journey of earth's hard, busy days.
They love us, and we know it; this suffices for reason's share.
Why should they pause to give that love expression with gentle care?
Why should they pause? But still our hearts are aching with all the gnawing pain
Of hungry love that longs to hear the music, and longs and longs in vain.
We love them, and they know it; if we falter, with fingers numb,
Among the unused strings of love's expression, the notes are dumb.
We shrink within ourselves in voiceless sorrow, leaving the words unsaid,
And, side by side with those we love the dearest, in silence on we tread.
Thus on we tread, and thus each heart in silence its fate fulfills,
Waiting and hoping for the heavenly music beyond the distant hills.
The only difference of the love in heaven from love on earth below Is:
Here we love and know not how to tell it, and there we all shall know.
A Special Chance
You and I took a special chance
The first time we met
We both knew enough of love,
And life, to understand that
Two people don't fall in love,
They grow into it, slowly -
And wed both been hurt before
By feelings that seemed too easily lost
But there was something between us
From the beginning, a unique harmony
That made us take that special chance.
You and I took a special chance
The first time we argued
After feeling hurt and sad,
And both of us trying to apologize
At the same time for disagreeing
Over such a small matter, we knew
That our relationship was worth more
Than anything that might come between us,
And we knew after that first time
That what we had together
Would see us through the hard times
And make us better appreciate the good,
Because we took that a special chance.
You and I took a special chance
The first time we said, I love you for we knew that
We would share stormy as well sunny times,
Laughter and tears, some dreams that would come beautifully true,
And others that would fade in our memories
And we knew in our hearts that our love
That our love deserved all the effort we could make
To fulfill our life together for we took that a special chance
And found a very special love.

What it's Like to Love You
To love you is to daydream of you often,
Think of you so much,
Speak of you proudly,
And miss you terribly when we are apart.
To love you is to cherish the warmth of your arms,
The sweetness of your kiss,
The friendliness of your smile,
The loving sound in your voice,
And the happiness we share.
To love you is to never forget the adversity we have overcome,
The tears we have shed,
The plans we have made,
The problems we have solved,
And the pain of separation.
To love you is to remember joyfully the days we made memorable,
The moments that will live forever in our hearts,
The dreams we hope for,
The feelings we have for each other,
The caresses and touches of love,
And the exhilaration of love that fills our hearts.
To love you is to need you, want you, hold you,
And know you as no one else can.
To love you is to realize that life without you
Would be no life at all.
That's a little of what its like
To be in love with you!
Think of you so much,
Speak of you proudly,
And miss you terribly when we are apart.

The Right One Will Come One Day
I once heard a story straight from the heart
About a girl and how her world began to fall apart
It all started when she met the boy that made her life complete
Just thinking of him made her heart skip a beat
They were the couple everyone wanted to be
There were no imperfections as either one could see
As the weeks passed they fell more in love and were less aware
Of how often life turns out to be unfair
Until one day she finally gave in
She realized there was no way she could win
She said I'm sorry but I have to let you go
As he reached for her hand she pulled away whispering no
When she turned around a tear slid down her cheek
He just stood there speechless, forgetting how to speak
The next few days were the hardest at home
She truly felt she was all alone
Her mom pushed in her face how she had won
Her dad said "I knew he was just another one"
Her sister said "come on you'll be ok"
And her brother just tried to stay away
At school it was like her friends weren't even there
None of them seemed to really care
Her life had no more color, just black and white
Even getting out of bed turned into a fight
Despite their tries things just weren't like before
Then he decided "I don't wanna try anymore"
At that she tried to cut him out
But the more she ignored him the more her feelings began to shout
When she saw him that day she could no longer just walk by
And before she knew it her mouth opened up and out came "hi"
He looked up and said "so now we're talking?"
She just smiled and join his walking
Everyday they talked a little more
And everyday she began to like him a little less then before
As the months passed by she became more and more aware
About how its ok life's unfair
Because eventually everything becomes your past
But your memories will always last
And with that I hope you see
Not all love is meant to be
But hold on and don't give in
Stand tall, hold up your chin
And believe me when I say
The right one will come one day
He'll open your eyes to things you couldn't ever see.

Two Choices
It's kind of funny
When you think about it
The people that walk in your heart.
The ones that stay,
The ones that go.
Some encounters are so quick
And others stay for awhile.
The impact may be small
So that you don't even notice a difference.
But others you can't forget
Because they changed your direction on the road.
There are ones that you may welcome
And hope they make a home.
There are ones that make holes
But from that you learn and grow.
From my life what I have gathered
Is that there are two people I will know...
Ones that stay,
And ones that go.
So, my heart will remain open
And what you choose is up to you.
When you think about it
The people that walk in your heart.
The ones that stay,
The ones that go.
